  • Late Fees Policy

All users must comply with the Late Fee Policy enforced by The Volte UK to ensure timely sending and returning of rented items. This policy protects both Borrowers and Lenders and ensures reliability across our community.

Late Fee Charges (Postal Rentals)

Should a Borrower fail to lodge an item with Royal Mail or another agreed courier within one business day (Monday to Saturday) following the agreed rental end date, a late fee of £15 per day (subject to applicable service fees) will be charged for each subsequent day until the item is posted.

By booking an item through The Volte UK, Borrowers explicitly consent to this Late Fee Policy.

Late fees are capped at either 14 business days (excluding Sundays and public holidays) or the full replacement cost of the item—whichever amount is greater—unless otherwise determined by The Volte.

Charging and Payment

The Volte UK reserves the right to:

  • Directly charge the payment method associated with your Volte Account for incurred late fees.
  • Pursue alternative payment collection methods if the registered payment method fails.
  • Pass unpaid invoices to third-party debt collection agencies, with any associated recovery costs payable by the Borrower.

In cases where charges cannot be collected through your registered payment method, you agree to promptly remit payment directly to The Volte UK or the relevant Lender as instructed.

Late Fee Processing (For Lenders)

To initiate late fee processing, Lenders must:

  • Submit a late fee request to customer support via [email protected].
  • Provide valid return tracking information as proof of delayed return.

The Volte UK will actively pursue collection of late fees for a period of up to 60 days. While The Volte UK will make every reasonable effort to recover owed amounts, we do not guarantee successful collection and shall not bear liability if payment cannot be obtained.

If only partial collection is achieved within the 60-day recovery period, the collected amount will be transferred to the Lender, and the claim will be considered closed.

Calculation of Late Fees

Late fees accrue daily, beginning the first business day following the scheduled rental end date and continuing until the day the Borrower provides verifiable proof of postage via Royal Mail or another agreed courier.

Borrowers shall not be liable for late fees if delays are demonstrably beyond their control, such as verified delays or disruptions by Royal Mail or the designated courier. In such instances, the Borrower must promptly inform both the Lender and The Volte UK and provide documentary evidence of the postal delay.

Late Fees for Local Pick-Up Rentals

For local pick-up and drop-off rentals, items must be returned directly to the Lender by the agreed rental end date. Failure to return items on time will incur late fees unless both parties have explicitly agreed, in advance, that the item will be returned by postal or courier services.

All communications regarding return arrangements must be documented via The Volte UK platform’s messaging system for reference in potential disputes or claims.
